What You Need To Know About Watching The Cubs & White Sox Next Season

-

You can ask anyone living in Chicago and they will tell you that the city alone is more than unique. Of course, you can’t really get a feel for what they are talking about until you experience it first hand. Someone can sit down and explain to you everything great about living in Chicago, but until you’ve experienced it first hand, you truly won’t be able to understand what the individual is talking about. That being said, you don’t have to necessarily live in the city to be a Cubs or White Sox fan. Both teams are located right in the great city of Chicago and truly have a lot to offer any sports fan. Heck, the presence of Wrigley Field alone is enough to give any baseball fans feelings of nostalgia. Whether you are currently residing in the city or you just happen to be a Chicago fan, here are some things that you need to fully understand about the upcoming season.

The End Of Baseball On TV

Unfortunately, it looks like the 2019 season might be the end of baseball on TV as most people are used to watching it. This is especially true in Chicago. Starting in 2020, the Cubs are going to broadcast all the games that they control on their very own channel, which is the Marquee Sports Network. The White Sox games, on the other hand, will be controlled by NBC and these games will be aired on NBC Sports Chicago. In addition to this, there are also going to be a handful of games broadcast on Fox-32. Anyone with access to Fox or the MLB package will be able to take advantage of these games.

Unfortunately, this will be it as far as free over-the-air TV goes. If you want to check out other games or do not have access to these games, you will have to get a cable, satellite, or streaming service.

If you are still living off that old antenna, you want to enjoy what you can this season because once it is gone it looks like it is going to be gone for good.

The Games That The Cubs And White Sox Control

You learned earlier that each the White Sox and Cubs have control of different games. What exactly does this mean? It simply means games that are not controlled by MLB. Certain games have already been assigned to other channels like ESPN because of current MLB deals. As far as that goes, the Cubs have control of 70 games. 45 of these 70 games are slated to take place on WGN, while 25 will take place on ABC. Unfortunately, the White Sox on have 55 games gets for WGN. This might sound like a lot of baseball, but when you are an avid fan it just isn’t nearly enough.

What About NBC Sports?

It currently looks like the White Sox has 106 games earmarked to appear on NBCSCH. And, just like the Cubs, nine of these games that are going to appear on NB Sports Chicago already had to be moved to NBSCH because of scheduling conflicts. It should also be noted for anyone that is placing bets on sites like joker123 there are going to be nearly four Cub’s games scheduled for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball show. Both Fox and ESPN has picked up some additional games, but the station wants to make a vow that they will run as many as 83 games on NBCSCH this season. Anyone that likes to watch online or via mobile devices should also be aware of the fact that the games available through NBCSCH will also be available through the NBCSCH MyTeams app.

Trying To Simplify Things

As a mere fan, it is probably safe to say that you are more than confused at to who is going to be streaming your games and when they are going to be streaming them. And, this is just one of the reasons behind the aforementioned Marquee Station. The Cubs management used this very rational argument when trying to get the Marquee Station approved for viewing. Of course, they also want to make boatload on money on streaming and hosting rights, but it is more than hard to deny that they don’t have a point.
