There was never a doubt that the Bears were better than the Jaguars, and on Sunday afternoon they made that clear. Heading into Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears find themselves in a win-and-in scenario.
Sunday was a great day to be a Bears fan, but hopefully, it was an even better day for your wallet. If you followed my PointsBet Bears Best Bets article from Sunday morning, you can send me my cut in the mail.
Winning Bets From Bears vs. Jaguars
Bears Covered (-7.5), Money Line (-370), Over 47.5 Total Points
The Bears’ offense had hit its stride in the most critical time of the season. In their last four games, they are 3-1 and have put up over 30 points in each game. Taking the Bears on the money line and the over on the points were obvious bets, but taking them to cover could have gone either way.
The Jaguars came into the game without their top running back James Robinson and for some reason started Mike Glennon at QB. Those decisions factored into my choice to take the Bears to cover.
Mitch Trubisky Over 238.5 Yards Passing
Trubisky is playing well enough to keep the Bears in the win column, and he was facing a bottom-three defense in the NFL. Also, David Montgomery is having his best stretch in a Bears uniform. Knowing how much success the Bears have when their play-action is effective, I knew Trubisky would have a nice game.
Aside from his horrendous interception, Trubisky found his favorite target Allen Robinson ten times for 103 of his 265 total yards. He also used Jimmy Graham in the red zone and hit him for two touchdowns.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, Trubisky will need to have his best game of 2020 to keep pace with the historic Green Bay Packer offense that is steamrolling every team they play.
David Montgomery Over 81.5 Rushing Yards
While he did not have as great of a game as I thought he would, Montgomery still carried a heavy load in the team’s 41-point outburst. The Bears emerging star touched the ball 23 times in the run game for 95 total yards.
In the fourth quarter, the Bears were using backups Ryan Nall and Artavis Pierce because of the scoreboard, otherwise, Montgomery would’ve gone over 100 yards again.
This was an easy bet, and it’s one that I will take again next week against the green and gold.
Mike Glennon Under 235.5 Passing Yards
Winning this bet left me feeling great. Mike Glennon’s four starts with the Bears in 2017 were a waste of time, and part of me placed the under on his performance out of spite. The idea that the Jaguars thought he was their best option against a good defense was comical.
I’m not sure what I enjoyed more, winning the bet or watching Roquan Smith intercept him twice.
