2020 Thanksgiving Day games

Houston Texans (-2.5) at Detroit Lions (+2.5)

Kickoff: 12:30 pm EST

Total: 51.5

The Thanksgiving Day slate starts us out in the motor city, where Deshaun Watson and the Texans invade Ford Field to battle with the Lions. Neither one of these teams is having a great season, and you likely won’t be seeing them in the playoffs. The Texans are 3-7 and the Lions are 4-6. Houston is coming off an upset victory over the New England Patriots and is riding high right now with a supreme air attack. The Lions meanwhile, are coming off one of their most embarrassing defeats in recent memory after getting completely shutout by an underwhelming Carolina Panthers team. What this line is assuming though, is that the Lions will once again be without their best wideout in Kenny Golladay and Running Back De’Andre Swift. Keep an eye out for the Lions injury report when we get closer to kickoff, and if those two play, I think the Lions are a good bet this week, as well as the over.

Washington Football Team (+2.5) at Dallas Cowboys (-2.5)

Kickoff: 4:30 pm EST

Total: 46.5

After a showdown in Motown, we travel down to Dallas, Texas, where the Cowboys are welcoming in the Football Team to AT&T Stadium. This is another matchup where I would say we get two teams that are playing for pride at this point. But, alas, we have the NFC East. These two teams are actually playing for a PLAYOFF spot sharing a 3-7 record. They both can still win this division, so this should be a competitive game as they vie for the postseason. The Football Team is coming off a victory against the Cincinnati Bengals at home last Sunday, while the Cowboys are celebrating a big upset victory over the Minnesota Vikings. I would lean Cowboys at -2.5 because I feel like Andy Dalton may have found something against Minnesota, and they are at home.

Baltimore Ravens (+4.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers (-4.5)

Kickoff: 8:20 pm EST

Total: 45

*UPDATE: This game has been postponed and will be played Sunday, Nov. 29

It all comes down to this. Thanksgiving Night Football features two of the most heated rivals in the NFL, as Ben Roethlisberger and the undefeated Steelers prepare to take on the reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson and the Ravens at Heinz Field. Although, Jackson hasn’t exactly looked like his 2019 self this season. The Ravens have sputtered to a 6-4 start after going 14-2 last season, losing their last matchup to Pittsburgh in Baltimore, and are currently on the outside looking in at the AFC Playoffs. Meanwhile, the Steelers have been unstoppable, literally, as they are the NFL’s last remaining unbeaten team and only the third unbeaten to play on Thanksgiving. The two other teams to play on Thanksgiving with an undefeated record are the 2011 Green Bay Packers and the 2015 Carolina Panthers. I really want to take Baltimore in the game getting more than a field goal and the over, but with the recent COVID-19 breakout on the team, I am hesitant to place any bets on this game until I know it’s actually going to be played.
