Today will be the final day for a really long time that we have more than one NFL game on the same day. Sadness ensues, but fear not. These games will probably be the best you have seen all year as well. Tom Brady has once again made it to a conference championship game, and he has been to one of those for 9 out of the last 10 years, so we are all used to it by now. His Buccaneers will travel to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. The Packers will play in their second NFC Championship in a row, having been blown out by the San Francisco 49ers last year. For how amazing Rodgers has been throughout his storied career, he has only won a single Super Bowl, and that was a decade ago. In the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs return to the AFC Championship Game for the third year in a row. Superstar QB Patrick Mahomes has led his team once again deep into the postseason, and they will look to win back to back Super Bowls for the first time since the New England Patriots in 2003-04. Their opponent will be Buffalo Bills, who are making their first championship game appearance since 1995. Josh Allen has proved all his doubters wrong this season, breaking out in a big way and being in the MVP discussion all year long. They will travel to KC in what will be a very anticipated rematch of a game that the Chiefs won earlier this season.
NFL Championship Best Bets
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-5) at Green Bay Packers (13-3)
Spread: GB -3, TB +3
Total: 51
Funny enough, the under went 3-1 last week during the divisional round games. A lot of teams have been coming into these playoff games hesitant to start out. That shouldn’t be a problem for the Packers, who have been red-hot starting out in games. In the second quarter alone, the Packers are statistically the best scoring team ever. They run up the score early on teams, but then they let their foot off the gas, which could be a problem today against the GOAT. Tom Brady has so many comebacks in his career, and if the Packers don’t bottle him up in the second half, it could spell their doom. While I think the Buccaneers will put up a fight, this is Rodger’s year. I really don’t see him losing at home in his first championship game at Lambeau. I think once again the Packers will get out to a fast start, but this time they will finish the job and advance to Super Bowl LV. That, and I have a Packers Super Bowl future.
Prediction: Packers 27, Buccaneers 24
Best Bets: Packers 1st Quarter, Packers 2Q, Packers 1st Half
Buffalo Bills (13-3) at Kansas City Chiefs (14-2)
Spread: KC -3, BUF +3
Total: 54
Patrick Mahomes’ health has recently come into question after taking a hit last week against the Cleveland Browns. Many thought that he had a concussion and would be very doubtful to play today. However, it was announced just a couple of days ago that Mahomes would be a full-go for the game. It’s not his head that would give me pause, it’s his foot. Mahomes has been plagued with a very bad case of turf toe or something similar. He has not been able to move effectively in the pocket and has had a very tough time scrambling as well. He has a noticeable limp to him when he’s walking onto the field and after plays, and with a history of leg injuries, you have to be really cautious with him. The Bills have not played their best football in the postseason, but that might be a good thing for them at this point. They have still managed to win two games against very tough opponents in the Colts and Ravens. The Chief’s defense will actually be the worst one they face, so this could be a big game for Stefon Diggs. The Bills don’t run the ball, but I have a feeling Josh Allen will have to use his legs today. I’d take has rushing yards over. With the injury to Mahomes, and with the Bills having the better overall defense, I think the Bills cover this number of 3. I wouldn’t be shocked to see them win outright in KC and prevent the Chiefs from getting to back to back Super Bowls.
Prediction: Bills 30, Chiefs 20
Best Bets: BUF +3, BUF ML, U54
