The Chicago Bears have announced a partnership with PointsBet, a global sportsbook that recently became available in Illinois. PointsBet will reportedly gain full access to all Chicago Bears marketing material including logos, marks and slogans to promote their app. To get this started off on the right foot, Bears fans will receive a unique sign-up code for PointBet’s mobile app.
“As we break into the sports betting category for the first time, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome PointsBet to the Bears family as a Proud Partner,” said Chicago Bears President & CEO Ted Phillips. “This deal will bring fans a new way to interact with and cheer on the club.”
PointsBet is the fifth sportsbook available for online betting in Illinois. This partnership with the Bears comes shortly after BetRivers, a PointsBet competitor, announced revenue of $42.5 million from online wagering in July.
It is worth noting that PointsBet also signed Chicago Bears legend Devin Hester to a marketing deal. This puts PointsBet in a position to gobble up market share in Chicago and take a chunk of the online betting revenue expected to flow through the city in the next 3-5 years.
In addition to recently launching the PointsBet mobile app and digital product for Illinois sports bettors, PointsBet’s convenient retail presence in Chicago will soon debut at four sites that flank every corner of Chicagoland. Hawthorne Race Course (Stickney, IL) represents the flagship retail location, and additional off-track betting (OTB) premium sportsbooks will debut in Prospect Heights, Oakbrook Terrace, and Crestwood.
The new partnership between the Bears and PointsBet is sure to get Chicago fans betting on their favorite team. The Bears are currently 1-1 against the spread this year, though they hold a 2-0 overall record. They were underdogs against Detroit and won, they were favorites against New York by five and a half, but only won by four.
In addition to that, the over came in for the Lions game and the under came in against New York. Chicago will be a tricky team to bet on as the season progresses, but the new partnership between the Bears, and Devin Hester, should go a long way toward making games more exciting in the near future for Chicago fans.
