The incident that Masvidal is being charged for stems from an incident Monday night (March 21) when Masvidal attacked UFC foe Colby Covington at a Miami Beach restaurant. Reports stated at the time that Masvidal was possibly facing felony charges although he was able to walk free for the moment. Now it seems authorities have caught up with him and he is behind bars for now, although you’d have to assume he’ll be able to post bail pretty quickly.
According to the police report, Masvidal has been arrested on charges of aggravated battery and criminal mischief.
According to MMAFighting.com, “if convicted of the current charges, Masvidal could potentially face significant time behind bars with aggravated battery considered a second-degree felony with up to 15 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine. Criminal mischief can also result in jail time and/or fines as well.”
The arrest comes on the same day that news broke of UFC’s biggest stay Conor McGregor also being arrested in Ireland.
Updates will be posted if necessary as this breaking story develops.
