Conor McGregor Enters Into Plea Deal After UFC 223 Incident

-

Everyone loves drama these days, so it makes perfect sense that when a guy like UFC’s Conor McGregor creates a certain commotion, the world goes entirely crazy.McGregor took it too far at UFC 223 when he broke the windows of a bus carrying a group of fighters, including Michael Chiesa, who suffered a cut on his face forcing him to withdraw from his next fight. Conor fled the country and has maintained a low profile (for his standards) since then. Earlier yesterday morning, the ordeal came to an end as McGregor pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.

As part of the plea deal to avoid any jail time, the gifted yet polarizing fighter is required to go through an anger management course and serve five full days of community service. I mean, the dude threw a dolly into an occupied bus after flying across the ocean to settle a beef. One thing’s for sure: McGregor is driven.

If we’re talking numbers, McGregor is easily the biggest star in the UFC. It seems like the guy finds new records to break pay-per-view wise year after year. His fights generate tons of revenue. He even fought (and lost to) undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather last summer. Mayweather’s guaranteed disclosed paycheck for the fight was $100,000,000 while McGregor took home a “modest” guaranteed disclosed paycheck of $30,000,000.

For an athlete to have that large and influential of a platform, it’s absolutely unacceptable to put out that type of behavior(to be honest, I love every second of it). No one said he shouldn’t talk the trash he’s been talking, but here’s a lesson for everyone: everything should be done in moderation.

The good news in all of this is that if he follows through on his promises to his prosecutor, he will be dropped of all criminal charges. That means he can move onward with his life and more importantly, fight in the United States again.

We should all be happy. The UFC gets their pay-per-view king back and us fight fans get to see our favorite Irishman back in the octagon doing what he does best…well, we’ll see what Khabib has to say about that.
