Here we go again.

MMA’s biggest superstar, Conor McGregor, has been arrested yet again.

McGregor was arrested in his home country of Ireland on Wednesday March 23 after being stopped by the Irish Garda for reckless driving. The incident was first reported by The Independent in Ireland.

According to the report, McGregor was traveling on highway N4 when he was stopped and arrested by Garda, with his Bentley Continental GT (which they list as being valued at €170,000) being seized at the scene but note that it has since been returned to him.

According to The Independent, “on conviction, the charge of dangerous driving carries a maximum punishment of a fine up to €5,000 or six months imprisonment, or both.”

A spokesperson for McGregor released the following statement to The Independent, stating, “Mr McGregor was driving to the gym when he was stopped by gardaí for alleged road traffic violations. He passed the drug and alcohol tests taken at the station.”

The Independent also notes that McGregor has previously appeared in front of the same court he is scheduled to appear in front of (Blanchardstown court) when he was fined €400 for speeding in 2017.

The report states that McGregor has already been released on bail and is due back in court sometime next month.

Author’s Note:

So for now, it seems like McGregor has been released and his Bentley has been returned to him. In the grand scheme of things, this really isn’t that big of a deal. It will make headlines because he got arrested, but it was really just for reckless driving and it appears he wasn’t intoxicated at the time. In terms of Conor McGregor’s screwups, you can put this towards the bottom of the list for now.

We’ll see how the judge treats him, though, given his history, especially since this isn’t his first driving offence. I’d still bet that nothing much will come of this, though.

Stay tuned for any possible updates that might come.
