Las Vegas Raiders Sign Devontae Booker And Prince Amukamara

-

Over the last couple of days, the Las Vegas Raiders have added some depth to their offensive backfield and the defensive backfield. On Monday, the Raiders added running back Devontae Booker, and on Tuesday, they added cornerback Prince Amukamara.

Devontae Booker

Booker was a fourth-round draft pick for the Denver Broncos in 2016; he rushed for 1,103 yards and seven touchdowns in four seasons with the Broncos. Booker’s best season was his rookie season when he rushed for 612 yards and 30 passes for 265 yards. Over the years Booker’s carries diminished, this past season, he only had two carries and mostly played special teams.

Booker will add depth to the Raiders backfield with the loss of DeAndre Washington; he can run, catch out of the backfield and play special teams. It will be interesting to see where he fits in with Josh Jacobs, Jalen Richard, and Lynn Bowden Jr.

Prince Amukamara

Prince Amukamara adds depth to the Raiders young secondary; last season, he played for the Chicago Bears. Last season with the Bears, Amukamara started 15 games and had 53 tackles with ten passes defended. Amukamara played in 113 games and intercepted ten passes in his career. Also, he has six forced fumbles, and 78 passes defended.

The Raiders drafted cornerbacks, Damon Arnette and Amik Robertson, but due to Covid-19, nobody can attend offseason workouts. So the rookies will be behind schedule; having a veteran like Amukamara, there is a plus. Also, Nevin Lawson, another veteran cornerback is suspended for the first game of the season for using his helmet as a weapon in a game against the Denver Broncos.

The Raiders defense struggled last year against the pass; they ranked 25th in passing yards allowed 27th in touchdown passes allowed and 29th in interceptions. So any help the Raiders can get in the secondary will help out a lot.
