Jon Jones is Granted License to Fight, UFC 232 is Ready to Roll

-

Ok. Now we can officially say it. Jon Jones is back. Earlier this week, the CSAC granted Jones a temporary license to resume his mixed martial arts career. Once Jones shows proof of community service, he will be eligible to receive a permanent license to fight. He is also subject to increased drug testing over a couple months period. A third party will oversee these actions.

CSAC executive officer, Andy Foster, represented Jones at the hearing and spoke on his behalf. He recommended to the CSAC that Jones be granted a temporary license so “he can make a living.” The commission reviewed the case one final time and offered Jones suggestions on certain matters, before granting him his license.

Jon Jones versus Alexander Gustafsson is officially set for UFC 232 on December 31st. This fight will be for the vacant light heavyweight title. Their first matchup was at UFC 165 in 2013. That fight was arguably the most technically sound fight in UFC history.

What can we take away from this? That Jon Jones is back and ready to cement himself as the greatest fighter of all time. Defeating Gustafsson would certainly push him closer to that title.
