Chicago Fire’s Awaited Return to Soldier Field

Chicago Fire is a professional soccer team whose headquarter is in Chicago Illinois. It is part of the Eastern Conference of the Major Soccer League (MLS). The team won the U.S. Open Cup and the MLS Cup in its debut season. It has a development system that comprises the Chicago Fire Juniors Youth Organization and the Chicago Fire Development academy. Chicago Fire’s Move to Soldier Field

Lori Lightfoot, Chicago’s mayor said that many people are proud of Chicago Fire. Andrew Hauptman, the club’s former owner stated that he sold it last month to enable it to return to Soldier Field. Chicago Fire announced in July 2019 that it had signed a contract with Bridgeview that allows it to host home games outside the SeatGeek Stadium. But, the stadium will be the headquarters and training ground for the Chicago Fire Youth programs.

Nelson Rodriguez, General Manager and President of Chicago Fire and John Urban, the club’s COO said that the club will start playing in Chicago soon. Even so, the Major Soccer League suspended all matches for one month due to the coronavirus outbreak in North America.

The club won’t increase its ticket rates in the next MLS season to make soccer available to many sports enthusiasts. Fans were required to start depositing $20 to book a seat in the club’s first home at Chicago Fire since 2000.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, Chicago Fire’s star revealed on March 11, 2020, that he will soon retire from Major League Soccer. He had a successful 18-year career in soccer. The player said in a Twitter announcement that he felt nostalgic leaving the club. Mansueto praised him for his dedication to all Chicago Fire’s games. He stated that the club might involve Bastian in another way.

The Club’s First Home Match

The play switched from Peter Nowak to Zak Ibsen. Zak had enough space in the right-wing and he ran at Tampa Bay’s backline. He slipped by one Tampa’s defender, stumbled and passed the ball to Frank Klopas who made a perfect finish. That was Chicago Fire’s first goal at Soldier Field on April 4, 1998. Bob Bradley was the team’s coach at that time. It comprised of C.J. Brown, Chris Armas, Klopas, Nowak and Lubos Kubik. Chicago Fire signed an eight-year contract a few days ago. Joe Mansueto, the team’s Chairman, and the owner didn’t disclose the details of the deal. He said in a press conference that many Chicago fans are ardent supporters of Chicago Fires. The club needs to be centrally located to broaden its fan base in the city.
