Week 11 is behind us, waivers have processed for you by now and it’s on to planning for a victory for Week 12.
Lineup decisions, strategy, streamers, etc. can all come later though.
Right now, it’s time to look at 5 players for this week that you need to watch. These players are ones who have uncertain situations surrounding them or who could be on the verge of breaking out.
Let’s take a look at these 5 players to watch in Week 12.
1. Marcell Ateman, Oakland Raiders WR
Ateman is a rookie wide receiver out of Oklahoma State that’s seen increased playing time due to injuries.
Currently, Jordy Nelson, Martavis Bryant and Brandon LaFell all have some sort of injury that could prevent them from playing this upcoming week.
Ateman is not a world class talent or anything spectacular, but in fantasy football, volume is king. If Ateman is one of the only receivers on the field that Carr can target, will he do anything with the opportunity?
Keep an eye out for Ateman and how he does on Sunday. Especially if you’re in a Dynasty league and need some wide-receiver depth.
2. Colt McCoy, Washington Redskins QB
Colt McCoy was thrust into action last week after Alex Smith suffered a horrific leg injury. (Wish nothing but the best to Alex and his family and a speedy recovery)
The good news for Redskins fans is that McCoy actually looked good and capable in relief!
I’m going to be watching McCoy and how he does in command of this offense. Every year, quarterbacks spring up in relief that can be fantasy football contributors. There’s a lot of high praise surrounding McCoy and what he can do as a QB in this league, so there’s a possibility that he could be a streamer candidate or a dependable starter soon.
3. Adrian Peterson, Washington Redskins RB
You have to go from talking about Colt McCoy to his running back that nearly everyone has written off.
After the offensive line injuries occurred a couple weeks ago, everyone assumed Peterson’s value as a fantasy running back was over. Then Alex Smith goes down and people are saying it’s time to jump ship.
Even in the game where Smith went down though, Peterson rushed for 2 TD’s.
Peterson will be a touchdown reliant fantasy option moving forward, but if McCoy can keep the chains moving for this Redskins offense, Peterson might still be worth starting in fantasy football.
Watch how Peterson does with McCoy at the helm this week.
4. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys QB
Dak’s play has been put under a microscope recently as the Cowboys offense has struggled mightily at times this year.
Adding Amari Cooper certainly has helped, but Dak still is showing signs of inaccuracy, poor mechanics and questionable decision-making.
He’s now going up against division rivals in the Washington Redskins and, while they’ve had a solid fantasy defense so far, they’re beatable through the air.
Dak offers such high appeal in fantasy for his ability to run the football and pick up those easy points, but it hasn’t all come together yet for him. Can he put it together enough to start making people believe he can be a viable fantasy option moving forward?
Or is this going to be the game where we officially write him off as a waiver wire mainstay?
5. The Chicago Bears Offense
At the time of writing, reports are indicating that Mitchell Trubisky is likely to miss Thursday’s game against the Detroit Lions.
This means that Chase Daniel will draw the start at QB.
This is the first Thanksgiving game, so everyone should be watching! Pay attention to how Daniel moves the ball and how this offense operates.
Will Tarik Cohen still draw targets in the passing game? Will Jordan Howard get more carries than normal?
It’s reason to be concerned, especially if you’re playing the other options in the Bears offense like Miller, Gabriel, Burton, etc. But there could still be good fantasy days here for some of these players!
It’s just a question of which ones it will be?
