A Sit Down With Notre Dame’s 2021 DT Commit Gabriel Rubio

-

First of all, we kicked off a podcast focused on Notre Dame. The channel will deliver an unfiltered voice from a range of guests delivering a unique and exclusive perspective of individuals that you read about, but rarely hear from first-hand.

Tale of the Tape

First up was a four star defensive tackle from Lutheran High School in St. Peters, Missouri. Gabriel Rubio is listed on 247sports.com as 6’5.5″ 290. His offer list is DEEP with offers on the table from LSU, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma, to name a few. The 2021 DT commit played some SDE this past season due to personnel, but will be focused on the interior in his Senior season.

Rubio joins the Class of 2021 in what hopes to be one of the best recruiting classes in Notre Dame history, on a defensive line that just secured another four star talent in David Abiara.

Score One for Irish Recruiting

Rubio, credits Defensive Line coach Mike Elston as a key element to why he chose the Irish.  He feels he was discovered by Notre Dame. His recruitment dates back to his Sophomore season where he attended a “Big Man Camp” in South Bend.

A tip of the cap goes to the Irish staff for uncovering this gem.

It was no surprise he took home some hardware from the camp. The 2021 DT commit has spoken with Coach Elston and decided that he will be anchoring the middle as a defensive tackle.

A “Violent, Relentless and Ruthless” player who is sure to make an impact at the next level.

Now, I won’t spoil everything, but give the video below a listen and I think you will be pleasantly surprised with how humble this young man is.

Finally, be sure to subscribe to the channel Golden Domers Podcast.

Thank you & Go Irish!
