Right before Opening Ceremonies for SoxFest this year, newly acquired DH/1B, Yonder Alonso face timed his brother-in-law, Manny Machado. In a weekend full of Manny Machado questions, rumors, and darkness it’s nice to have some open recruitment from one of the White Sox hopeful future stars.
In the face time group, it was Yonder Alonso, Jose Abreu, and Yoan Moncada. Moncada said this, “Alonso called him just before the opening ceremony,” Moncada said through team interpreter Billy Russo. “I was there, we told him how much we need him, how much we want him here with us to help us to be a better team. At that moment he was just getting ready to play golf with some of his friends but we told him we know you have a lot of things going on but we like you here.” (Courtesy of James Feagan of The Athletic)
It’s great to see Yoan trying to recruit Manny here. The young and upcoming guys on this team sense something special on the horizon and it would be nice to have Manny Machado here to help pull it all together.
