Man this White Sox team is fun.
On a night where Lucas Giolito didn’t have his best stuff, the White Sox found a way to battle back from deficits of 4-0, and 5-4 to take the first of three against the Minnesota Twins.
Luis Robert once again stole the show, coming up clutch not once but twice. First he hit a game-tying nuke of a home run that traveled 449 feet and would have gone further had it not bounced off the upper deck center field limestone wall.
Next, he came through with a ground-rule double that gave the Sox the lead in the top of the 9th.
Nomar Mazara, notorious for being horrible against left-handed pitchers, came through afterwards in his biggest moment of the year with a single that scored 2 more to give the Sox a 3 run cushion.
Alex Colome came in and shut the door in the bottom of the 9th, sealing the deal for the Sox. The win gives the South Siders sole possession of first place in the A.L. Central thanks to the Royals taking care of business against the Indians.
The Sox will try to take the series tomorrow with Dallas Keuchel pitching for the Sox.
It’s going to be a dog fight until the very last day of the season, but this White Sox team is good, and they know it.
What a win. Back at it tomorrow. Let’s go.
