The Arizona Diamondbacks picked Alek Thomas out of Mount Carmel High School in the second round of the 2018 MLB draft. On Wednesday, Thomas got to play against the White Sox in a spring training game and in the ninth inning, he hit a three-run home run off Lucas Giolito.
Pretty cool moment for the 18-year-old, but it was even better because he did it in front of his dad, Allen Thomas, who works for the White Sox.
After rounding the bases, Alek tried to get his dad’s attention and it led to this funny moment.
Alek Thomas, son of White Sox director of conditioning Allen Thomas, just homered against the White Sox in spring training.
That's a proud dad, but he's trying to play it cool 🤐 pic.twitter.com/XtcsQopMun
