Since the White Sox are not expected to be good next season, they have no expectations. Knowing that, they should take advantage and allow as many players as they can to get an extended look at the major league level, to see if they could be around when the White Sox are eventually good.
The White Sox just missed a golden opportunity, as the New York Yankees just scooped up a player that the White Sox should have taken a flier on.
According to Adam Leighton, the Yankees signed outfielder Brennen Davis to a minor league deal.
The Yankees and outfielder Brennen Davis have agreed to a minor league deal, sources tell @JustBB_Media. Davis, 25, was regarded as one of the game's best OF prospects before a tough stretch of injuries slowed him over the last few seasons. He OPS'd .828 in 47 AAA games in 2024.

Davis was formerly a top-100 prospect for the Chicago Cubs, but injuries have derailed his career to this point. However, he is still a very talented player that could have played some meaningful innings for the White Sox this year.
Davis hasn’t made it to the major leagues yet, but he had a decent showing in AAA last year for the Iowa Cubs, as his power was on display.
In 47 games, Davis hit 11 homers and had 28 RBIs. He also walked 23 times while striking out 42, which contributed to a very solid .359 OBP. His average was low, as he hit .214, but he showed flashes of his potential to be a very good power hitter in the major leagues.
Reminder of the damage Davis is capable of when he's healthy. Even in an injury-riddled 2024, he popped two 114 mph home runs. Here they are. He also had a stretch this season where he hit seven home runs in eight Triple-A games. https://t.co/HvDxz0oIFv pic.twitter.com/UfFA2dyvvA

Davis is still just 25 so he is still pretty young. He is the exact type of player that the White Sox should take a filer on, as if he turns out to be a solid major leaguer, Chris Getz looks like a genius, but if he doesn’t pan out, you lose nothing, as the team wasn’t expected to be any good in 2025.
The White Sox have been searching for answers in their outfield for years now and with rumors swirling around Andrew Benintendi and Luis Robert Jr., there could be a few spots up for grabs this year, as the White Sox don’t have any top outfield prospects that are close to making their debuts. Newly acquired Braden Montgomery could fly through the minor leagues, but he still hasn’t played in a minor league game.
Currently in the outfield, besides Benintendi and Robert, the White Sox have Mike Tauchman, Austin Slater, Dominic Fletcher, and Zach DeLoach. While that list includes some average MLB players, the White Sox should be swinging for the fences and trying to find as much upside as they can this year. Davis would have been the perfect signing to compete for at-bats in the outfield, especially if the White Sox make a trade in the outfield.
Sometimes all a prospect needs is a change of scenery for them to figure things out, and the White Sox should be the top destination for many of those former top prospects looking for a new home. While the White Sox don’t have a great track record of getting the most out of their prospects, they have made sweeping changes to fix that.
