It finally happened, White Sox fans. Rick Hahn and Jerry Reinsdorf finally got a legit, top of the market free agent. Catcher Yasmani Grandal has agreed to a deal with Chicago.
This is an absolute statement to the rest of the A.L. Central. Grandal is one of, if not the best all around catchers in baseball. Power, on-base percentage, defense, the guy can do it all. It also gives the Sox arguably the best tandem in all of baseball. McCann will be an incredible backup and most likely Lucas Giolito’s personal catcher.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the team has designated Daniel Palka for assignment.
While this is an amazing move, Rick Hahn absolutely cannot stop here. Go get a right fielder and some legit starting pitching (Zach Wheeler cough cough) and let’s make 2020 a blast.
