Luis Robert Jr. Deserves All-Star Recognition

-

One of the more underrated storylines in baseball has been Luis Robert Jr. He has been absolutely insane this year and it is seemingly going unnoticed by many baseball fans, as he was not in the top votes for the all-star game. Now, that doesn’t mean much in terms of skill, but it is disappointing to see that he isn’t getting the national recognition he deserves.

An Absolute Snub

Last year, the biggest all-star snub was Dylan Cease, as he was second in Cy Young voting, but didn’t even make the all-star team. Currently, Robert is on pace to top that snub.

As of the last voting cycle last week, Robert wasn’t even in the top 20 outfielders. That is absolutely insane considering the season he is having.

Some of the names on there instead of him are insane, as most are not having a better season than Robert. In fact, most players in the MLB can’t say they are having a better season than him.

Currently, Robert is 5th overall in the MLB in terms of WAR. WAR is the best stat baseball has to rank players overall, as it takes into consideration both offense and defense. There are only four players ahead of him, and one is Shohei Ohtani so that doesn’t count, as without his pitching WAR, Robert would be higher.

While the fans are the ones responsible for the all-star voting, it is a crime that he didn’t even rank in the top 20 of American League outfielders. It could be a direct result of the fans finally boycotting Jerry or the Sox, as it is a miserable season, and I wouldn’t blame them if they were.

Is Anyone Paying Attention To The White Sox?

There was only one White Sox player that was ranked in the top ten at their position, and that was Yasmani Grandal. He was in 10th place with only 120k votes. A very interesting development all things considered.

Jake Burger should have cracked the top 10, as he was on a tear when the voting was going on and he is still putting up a great season as a power-hitting third baseman. This with the lack of voting for Robert may indicate that Sox fans are truly fed up.

Most White Sox players have no business sniffing the all-star game this year, but a few definitely should be in the hunt for their position, especially Robert. It leads me to believe that White Sox fans and baseball fans are fed up with the Sox this year and for good reason.

The Sox have promised fans and all of baseball a good team by now and that simply has not happened. I don’t blame people for not watching the Sox, as most of the time it is not great baseball.

In some games the team doesn’t look like they’ve ever played baseball before, in others they just play bad baseball. If Sox fans have stopped watching, it’s for good reason.

Hopefully, the lack of recognition and the lack of ticket sales don’t go unnoticed by ownership, as that will be the only way they make changes to this team because they are significantly necessary.

Regardless of the Sox record, Luis Robert Jr. deserves to be an all-star and baseball needs to know about the superstar in the White Sox outfield. Major league baseball needs to do a better job of getting the word out about him because he is the best player in Chicago.

Blame it all on the ineptitude of Reinsdorf who simply id milking what’s left of his two team at God’s doorstep.
