Is Jerry Reinsdorf Selling The White Sox?

-

A lot of rumors have been swirling around the White Sox lately. Whether it has been about sweeping changes in the front office due to the disappointing season or potential managerial changes, it seems like it all has been discussed. But, the latest rumor has been the most interesting of them all…

The latest rumor is that Jerry could entertain selling the team and might be looking to move the team to a new site. The more surprising of the two rumors is the fact they would consider moving the team. This is kind of crazy, especially considering the market Chicago has for sports. Even if the Sox are Chicago’s second team, that is a much bigger market than they would get anywhere else. The fact that Jerry is entertaining a sale isn’t as surprising, especially considering the dumpster fire that is the front office.

Nashville White Sox?

It seems that the White Sox lease with the stadium will end in 2029, so they speculate that there could be talk of movement, as such a move would require a few years to actually come to fruition.

I’m not sure how many fans would actually approve of a move to any other city. If they did move, I’m sure most Sox fans would somehow hate the ownership more than they already do, if that is even possible. The White Sox are a Chicago team and should not be relocated to any other state. But, if they were to move the stadium somewhere else, many more fans would be on board.

While most Sox fans have grown up with the stadium in the same spot, as they built US Cellular Field right where Comiskey was, a new spot around Chicago could be interesting. If they built a new, state-of-the-art stadium somewhere else, I’m sure most fans wouldn’t mind, as the current stadium is a bit outdated compared to most of the newer stadiums in the league.

If the Sox were able to build a complex similar to what the Cardinals have with Ballpark Village, most fans would be on board. Fans would miss their favorite spots to hit before and after games if they left, but if the Sox built an area with a sportsbook, restaurants, bars, and more entertainment, it could win over the fans that are on the fence about a new stadium.

Regardless of where they end up, the Sox would need to make sure there are plenty of spots for tailgating before the games, as that is something Sox fans do the best.

Could A Sale Happen?

Now this is the part of the rumor most fans like to hear. After calling for Jerry to sell for the longest time, this is music to most Sox fans’ ears.

I never thought I would see the day that Jerry or the Reinsdorf family could entertain a sale of the team, but the day has finally come. How true this rumor really is remains to be seen, as I won’t believe it until I see the official notification that the team has been sold.

I’m not quite sure who could buy the team, but there has been no shortage of perspective owners, as many billionaires have expressed internet in owning a sports franchise. It would be such a refreshing change if the Sox got an owner that would do whatever it takes for them to be a competitive team.

While a sale might not happen soon if at all, it is nice to dream. Hopefully, something does happen, as there needs to be an overhaul within many different levels of this organization.

They are not selling the team. Boob Nightengale would tell you so, if that was true. Reinsdorf just wants attention. Still, I dont think this rumor originates with him. Somebody in the org, did not say a definitive NO when asked about the team selling. Somebody else reported the comment, and it became a story. Which Im sure its not.

There are NO WORDS to describe Reinsdorf’s ownership of the Sox … and except for getting LUCKY with MJ, it wouldn’t be any different for the Bulls! Sell Ole Jer, please SELL!!!! Sox and Bulls Fans deserve Teams that at least appear to be trying!
