Chicago White Sox Announce New Partnership With NASCAR Team

-

For the second consecutive year, the White Sox are going racing.

On Thursday Front Row Motorsports announced that they are partnering with the Chicago White Sox for the Chicago Street Race on July 7th. The team will be on the No. 34 Ford Mustang driven by Michael McDowell. The car will be featured at Guaranteed Rate Field on June 30th on “NASCAR night” a week before the race. The car is all black with the White Sox logo featured on the hood and “White Sox” in white lettering along the side.

This is not the first time that Front Row Motorsports has partnered with the White Sox organization. The team announced on Tuesday that McDowell would also be driving a Charlotte Knights-themed car on May 19th for the All-Star race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Unlike, last year there is a chance the White Sox car will be seen near the front of the pack. McDowell is the 2021 Daytona 500 winner who also won a road course race at Indianapolis Motorspeedway last season to qualify for the playoffs. The 39-year-old is considered one of the better road course racers in the Cup Series and finished seventh during the Chicago Street race last year.

McDowell marks a step up for the White Sox, who sponsored Ty Dillon’s No. 77 Chevy for Spire Motorsports last season. Dillon finished 35th out of the 37 drivers in the inaugural Chicago Street race and 32nd in the points at the end of the season. Spire replaced Dillon soon after. McDowell announced he would be joining Spire Motorsports at the end of the NASCAR season but the White Sox are hoping he can park the 34 car in victory lane one final time on July 7th.
