The White Sox pitching staff has suffered another blow. On Friday right-hander Mason Adams left the White Sox Cactus League game with discomfort in his right elbow. He will undergo further testing on Saturday.
Adams was removed in the second inning of the White Sox 7-3 victory over the Reds after throwing 23 pitches. He fired a scoreless first frame, which included a pair of strikeouts to open the game. However, he ran into trouble in the second inning after sandwiching a strikeout between a hit batter and a walk.

Catcher Korey Lee visited the mound, quickly followed by the White Sox training staff, and Adams walked off moments later. He was later charged with two earned runs after reliever Justin Anderson allowed both inherited runners to score.
Adams is now the fifth White Sox pitcher to suffer an injury in camp. Last week, Prelander Berroa, who was expected by many to be the team’s closer, and Juan Carela went down with season-ending Tommy John surgery. Left-hander Ky Bush underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery in February while Drew Thorpe has yet to pitch in a Spring Training game due to elbow soreness.
Adams emerged as one of the White Sox top performing prospects last season. In 103.1 innings in Double-A Birmingham, he owned a 2.44 ERA while racking up 101 strikeouts and issuing just 19 free passes.
The 25-year-old was selected by the White Sox in the 13th round of the 2022 draft. Following his strong stint in Birmingham last season, he was promoted to Triple-A Charlotte where he posted a 6.88 ERA in five starts.
