CHICAGO — After the Chicago Cubs’ 7-3 victory over the cross-town rival White Sox split the two-game series, manager Joe Maddon confirmed to the media that the Cubs’ top pitching prospect, Adbert Alzolay, is being called up to the majors.
Left-handed reliever Tim Collins was designated for assignment to make room on the roster.
This has been a long time coming for Alzolay, who has been the Cubs’ top pitching prospect for over a year now. He’s had an excellent season in the minor leagues, and it was just a matter of time before he would be called up to get his ‘cup of coffee’, so to speak, with the major league team.
Once Kyle Hendricks went on the injured list earlier this week, the countdown to Alzolay’s call-up got escalated. It looks like the time has now come. More details will be released as they become available.
In the mean time, welcome, Adbert!!! Let’s go!!!
