Yu Darvish had a no-hitter through 6.1 innings against the Brewers Thursday night and picked up his third win of the season after only allowing a Justin Smoak home run in seven innings.
Darvish lowered his ERA to 1.88, while striking out 11 more batters and of course everyone got to dunk on Christian Yelich.
By now, you probably already saw this Cubs tweet that went at Yelich too, following his 0-for-3 night at the plate.
But the Cubs can’t and won’t stop trolling Yelich.
Though, this one is definitely a “if you know, you know” joke.
OK, so yeah Darvish was lights out against the Brewers, but the lights are on?
Well, I’ll let you in on the inside joke.
So, early in the 2019 season there was a random comment made about how the Brewers were helping Yelich out during home games by playing with the lights inside Miller Park when he was hitting. It was basically a way to point out his ridiculous home/road splits to begin the year.
Yes, obviously major conspiracy theory shit, but Cubs fans have taken full advantage of it and have made it a lot bigger than it is.
So, that’s basically it. The Cubs Twitter account is now feeding into the frenzy too and it’s amazing.
