Jon Lester is already a legend in the city of Chicago. Four years ago today the Cubs overcame a 3-1 deficit against the Indians and snapped their 108-year Wold Series drought, winning one of the most bonkers Game 7s in World Series history.
Lester is now a free agent after the Cubs bought out his $25 million option for 2021, and if 2020 was his final season on the north side he wanted to show his appreciation for fans in Chicago by buying them beer.
Regardless of what's next I want to thank the fans for the past 6 years. So this weekend (10.30-11.1) Im buying y’all my favorite beer. Make a res at @Hopsmithchicago @LodgeTavern @ButchMcGuires @ShenannigansHOB & your 1st @MillerLite is on me. Just tell em to put it on #JonsTab

And the grand total was 4,838 Miller Lites!
Thanks for coming out this weekend y’all! Yesterday we added 1,372 @MillerLites to my tab, bringing our grand total to 4,838. Shout out to all the bars, their staff, and those cheers-ing from afar! Whether this is goodbye or see you next year, I love you Chicago! #JonsTab pic.twitter.com/OTEIO2gOjc

And how about Lester also tipping 34%.
As far as coming back to the Cubs, Lester will be talking with Theo Epstein, some of those conversations have already taken place, and we’ll see what’s next for BDJ.
Jon Lester on Sirius /XM Power Alley. On talks with Theo Epstein”We have had conversations about getting something done ,coming back and being a part of the organization. I don t expect it to happen tomorrow but hopefully when everything calms down we can figure something out”

But hey, buying beers for fans on your way out is one helluva way to stamp your mark as a legend in Chicago.
