Cubs pitching prospect Brailyn Marquez is in the zone right now. The 20-year-old lefty has elevated his game since the start of July and after getting promoted to high A-Ball, Marquez threw his second straight no-hit start on Tuesday night.
Marquez made his debut with the high Single-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans and he didn’t miss a beat after throwing six no-hit innings in his final outing with the South Bend Cubs. Marquez lit up the radar gun in the first inning, going up to 100mph.
The 6-foot-4 left-hander struck out four, walked three, while not allowing a hit in five innings.
Marquez has struck out 26, walked four and allowed just one hit over his last three starts. He’s currently on a 13.2 no-hit innings streak!
An incredible run by Marquez, who was named co-pitcher of the month for July in the Cubs organization along with fellow lefty Jack Patterson.
Marquez has allowed a total of five earned runs in 32.1 innings during his last six starts. (1.39 ERA)
