Cubs Are Kicking Ass Like No Other Team to Begin 2025 Season

-

The Cubs blew out the Dodgers 16-0 Saturday night, handing Los Angeles its biggest home loss in franchise history. Not only did the Cubs deliver an ass-kicking of a lifetime in LA, they also added to their MLB-best run differential as they continue to clobber opponents like no other team has to begin the 2025 season.

The 16-0 win marked the fifth time through 17 games that the Cubs have reached double digits in the run column. Oh and by the way before you make an excuse about position player Miguel Rojas pitching for the Dodgers on Saturday, just know that the Cubs had already scored 11 runs against LA starter Roki Sasaki and a pair of relievers.

Cubs 10+ Run Games
3/27: 10-6 vs. Diamondbacks
3/31: 18-3 vs. Athletics
4/2: 10-2 vs. Athletics
4/8: 10-6 vs. Rangers
4/12: 16-0 vs. Dodgers

That’s 66 runs in five games. Entering Sunday’s slate of games more than half the teams in MLB have scored fewer than 66 runs. The number is 18. Eighteen! Incredible.

At 112 runs the Cubs lead MLB by a wide margin, ahead of the Yankees, who are at 91 runs. Now, the Cubs have played in more games than anyone else with 17, but still at 6.59 runs per game, they remain the No. 1 scoring team in all of baseball.

Oh and the Cubs are doing this while facing one of, if not, the toughest schedules to begin the 2025 regular season.

That +41 run differential is 17 runs better than the second-best mark in the league held by the Padres, who are at +24 through 15 games.

The Cubs have not lost a series since the two-game set in Japan back in March. They’ll have Colin Rea starting on the mound, filling in for the injured Justin Steele on Sunday night against the Dodgers as the Cubs will attempt to win their fourth straight series.
