This is incredible. The Chicago Cubs are playing good ball, fans are into every pitch at Wrigley and Cody Bellinger continues to respond to the chants. Bellinger homered against the Colorado Rockies earlier this week in the midst of fans chanting, “Cody, Cody, Cody,” and he did it again in Sunday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Perfect. No notes needed.
The Cubs’ offense has been on fire to begin the season and that’s with Bellinger not even getting off to a great start himself. Bellinger is up to a slash line of .235/.350/.441, with two homers following his 1-for-3 game on Sunday. Yet, the rest of the lineup has done more than enough to power the Cubs to a 6-3 start, which includes a 5-1 home stand against the Rockies and Dodgers.
Ian Happ, Seiya Suzuki, Christopher Morel, Dansby Swanson, Michael Busch have all come through with big hits, while Mike Tauchman and Nick Madrigal have also contributed off the bench.
Following Sunday’s game, the Cubs will travel West to begin a nine-game road trip that includes stops in San Diego, Seattle and Arizona.
