Chicago Cubs legend Anthony Rizzo made his return to Wrigley Field for the first time since he was traded to the New York Yankees in 2021 and fans greeted the 2016 World Series champion with the loudest standing ovation ever.
Rizzo, now 35, played in parts of 10 seasons with the Cubs, making his debut with the team on June 26, 2012, at Wrigley Field. Rizzo was dealt to the Yankees at the 2021 trade deadline, which essentially started the end of that championship core from the mid-2010s.
You can’t say enough about Rizzo as a player, what he did on the field, and more importantly what he’s done off the field with the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation.
