Willson Contreras o/u 16.5 Home Runs
So, you know how Kyle Schwarber was a beast during his rookie season in 2015? He blasted 16 home runs in 273 plate appearances. Plus, another five home runs during that postseason. Anyway, there were a lot of exceptional performances in 2016, but Willson Contreras was somewhat overlooked. Despite that, he went toe-to-toe with Schwarber’s rookie season.
Schwarber 2015:16 HRs, 43 RBIs, .246/.355/.487 1.9 fWAR (273 PA)
Contreras 2016: 12 HRs, 35 RBIs, .282/.357/.488 2.2 fWAR (283 PA)#Cubs— Aldo Soto (@AldoSoto21) October 4, 2016
Contreras now begins the season as the No. 1 catcher and are you kidding me with that 16.5 number? Over! Over! Over! He had less than 300 at-bats as a rookie and hit 12 dingers. Can he hit five more playing a full year? Hell yes.
Take the over. You won’t regret it.
If you haven’t guessed already, I think the Cubs are going to be kinda good and hit a lot of homers. That includes the aforementioned Kyle Schwarber.
