One of my favorite articles to write each year is always the walk-up music for every member of the Chicago Cubs. To be honest with you, it actually sucks trying to remind yourself to pay attention during the game as the players walk to the plate and hoping your hands aren’t too numb to stop you from taking your phone out to ask Siri, “What song is this?”
Don’t worry though, I pulled through again this year.
The Cubs opened up their 2018 Wrigley Field experience with a 8-5 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates in a game that they had every opportunity to win. With that said, I won’t bore you with my rants about how the Cubs consistently cannot situationally hit to save their lives because I know you’re only reading this to see what songs the Cubs walked up to.
So here ya go…
Ian Happ
Kris Bryant
Ben Zobrist
Benny and the Jets – Julianna Zobrist
Willson Contreras
Una Lady Como Tu – MTZ Manuel Turizo
Kyle Schwarber
Thuggish Ruggish Bone – Bone Thugs N Harmony
Addison Russell
Lemon – N.E.R.D. feat. Rihanna
Jason Heyward
This Girl – Kungs Vs. Cookin on 3 Burners
Ric Flair Drip – Offset & Metro Boomin
Knuck If You Buck – Crime Mobb
Javier Baez
Tyler Chatwood
Had one at-bat and the fans were still screaming after Javy’s home run so I couldn’t tell what song it was.
One note: A few players (Schwarber, Javy) used a different song during their later at-bats but whoever is in control of playing the music at Wrigley was quick on the trigger and only let the song play for about three seconds.
Lastly, I’d only hope Anthony Rizzo will keep Ando En La Versace for his first walk-up and then carry on the tradition of my personal favorite of Martin Solveig’s Intoxicated.
Once he’s off the DL that is.
