So… are the Bulls actually good again? Or are they just fun? Maybe a combination of both?
The Bulls, who traded away Zach LaVine earlier this year, have quietly put together an impressive stretch. They’re 8-2 in their last 10 games and have essentially locked up a spot in the play-in tournament for the third consecutive year. As of now, they sit just two games behind the Orlando Magic for the 8th seed.
Coby White and the Young Core Are Stepping Up
Coby White has been on fire, winning back-to-back Eastern Conference Player of the Week awards. Matas Buzelis is starting to show real promise as a rookie, and Josh Giddey is playing at an elite level. There’s no denying that this group is fun to watch right now — they’re playing with speed and confidence.

Winning Comes at a Cost
But here’s the problem: with each win, the Bulls chances of landing the No. 1 overall pick — and potentially Cooper Flagg — are slipping away. Right now, Chicago has just a 2.5% chance to win the lottery and an 11.7% chance to land in the top four. They do own their first-round pick in 2025, but this hot streak could push them out of position for a franchise-altering talent.
Sure, you could argue that it’s better for the young players to gain experience and maybe sneak into the playoffs. But in the NBA, you need a true superstar — if not two — to seriously compete for a championship. Can Coby White grow into that? Can Matas or Giddey reach that level? I’m not so sure.
So yes, the Bulls are good — and definitely fun — again. But at what cost? And is it really worth it?
