The Chicago Bulls’ Unsung Hero: Nikola Vucevic

-

The talk around the Chicago Bulls has consistently been DeMar DeRozan and Zach Lavine, which isn’t hard to blame anybody who’s hyping them up. They’re playing like Jordan and Pippen and it’s something special to see. With that being said, there’s another name that deserves some attention.

A man who is humble and could easily hype himself up, Nikola Vucevic needs to realize just how valuable he really is. Averaging 16 and 12 per game, not to mention the 3 assists, is insane for any player. But this is even more mind-boggling when you step back and realize who he’s playing alongside and is still averaging these numbers. DeMar DeRozan, Zach Lavine, Alex Caruso, Lonzo Ball. Those are some big names, and Vooch is still able to put up numbers without even trying to stuff his stats. He’s a team player and he needs to hear how much Bulls Nation appreciates the big fella.

We Don’t Deserve This Man

Bulls’ Nikola Vučević Downplays Historic NBA Stat Line

Remember that thing about him being too good of a man and shouting out his teammates even though he deserves more recognition? Well, let’s take a look at Nikola being a good guy yet again.

Here’s what came about that night that the story dropped. In case you didn’t actually click on the link and would like to know what he had to say about this performance, Vucevic had a simple response when asked about his performance: “I feel like you can make up a stat with anything nowadays.”

Yes, you can make up a stat for anything nowadays. But that’s not the point here, Nikola. The point is that you just put up TWENTY-FOUR and SEVENTEEN alongside 6 assists and 4 blocks. That’s something special and that isn’t seen just any day of the week, especially when you’re on a team with 2 potential MVP candidates and a roster that’s led a team to 1st place in the East.

This Isn’t New For The Montenegrin Monster

Yes, The Montenegrin Monster (this nickname has to stick) has been tormenting basketball players all throughout his tenure in the NBA. The man has had 9 seasons where he’s averaged a double-double, and he’s well on his way to adding a tenth this season.

First off, the city of Chicago and the fanbase of the Chicago Bulls would personally like to thank the Orlando Magic for trading this beast of a player. You allowed us to receive a man that will back up his brothers at all cost and gives it his all night in and night out. Like, seriously, take a look at those numbers a month before the Magic traded him to us. Those are NBA 2K numbers…those aren’t your everyday run-of-the-mill numbers. No, this man was living like a MyCareer player and then ended up boosting a team into the stratosphere. Again, thank you, Orlando. Now, moving on to some more ridiculous highlights of our Montenegrin Monster.

The 2018-2019 season was a monster one for Nikola, where he averaged about 21 points and 12 boards per game, along with 4 assists and a block. Those numbers helped lead him to be an All-Star Reserve, which helped solidify a respectable 80-game season. The highlights speak for themselves, as he plays like nobody can stop him day in and day out.

Cover your eyes, Magic fans, as this absurd stat line occurred about a month before they decided to trade the big man to us. Again, we can’t thank you enough, Orlando. 30, 15, and 10. Break a record for the franchise. Traded. Sheesh. Vooch, you’re always going to be loved in the Windy City, and we recognize your worth. Now it’s time for the national spotlight to do the same.
