The Bulls Are Front-Runners To Acquire Two Key Lakers Players

-

As free agency starts tonight, the Chicago Bulls are rumored to be interested in two key Lakers bench players. The Lakers waived Mo Bamba yesterday, and Dennis Schroder likely will not return as the team is committed to signing D’Angelo Russell.

Realistic Options for the Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls need a point guard as Lonzo Ball is expected to miss the entire season of 2023-2024. The Bulls have gone on record to say they’ll target a replacement for Lonzo Ball. With the money getting tight and the Bulls committing to continuity, the Bulls’ options are slim to improve their team.

Dennis Schroder, 29, had one of his best seasons in Oklahoma City playing for current Bulls coach Billy Donovan. As he looks to join a new team, the Bulls seem like the obvious choice, given his value has tanked thanks to his low production on the Lakers. It’s a terrific value pickup for the Bulls if he joins Chicago.

Mo Bamba has been linked to the Bulls for the past several years. His potential is through the roof, and he’s only 25 years old. He’s an elite shot-blocking 7-footer who can shoot 40% from behind the arc. It’s unclear why the Lakers decided to waive him. He’s another high-value pickup for the Bulls, even when Andre Drummond picked up his player option.
