If you are a Chicago Bulls fan, today is a good day. The franchise finally cut ties with Jim Boylen. This now allows the team to shift its focus in trying to find a new coach who can help get the most out of this talented roster. Although there was a ton of positivity surrounding the Bulls and their recent franchise overhaul, there are still some people who are skeptical. One of the more prominent voices against the Bulls’ recent moves is none other than ESPN’s First Take Host, Stephen A. Smith.
Stephen A. Smith couldn’t be more wrong
This comment is alarming for a multitude of reasons. First, the Bulls job is no longer unattractive. Chicago has a brand new regime lead by very respected individuals such as Artūras Karnišovas and Marc Eversley. The roster is still full of young/talented players. Not to mention the Bulls have a great shot at landing another high pick in this year’s NBA Draft. If you are a coach looking for a fresh start, the Bulls are a perfect landing spot. Secondly, Stephen A is a known Knicks fan. So he doesn’t have a lot of room to talk. Everyone knows the NBA is better when the Bulls are good. So the fact the franchise is actually making big-time changes, in the right direction, shouldn’t be met with criticism but rather praise. ESPN Insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, dropped actual insight on how attractive the Bulls opening is viewed around the NBA.
“It’s a job that is attractive to candidates around the league. The Bulls have excellent young talent. It’s the kind of team that coaches believe can have a fairly significant turnaround in a short period of time.”
I gotta say it’s refreshing to know the Bulls will no longer be looked down on. Now let’s just hope the lottery gods are on our side as the team will find out where they pick in less then a week.
