Earlier this week, we received great news about the Bulls best player. Today we got some more good news about the team’s starting point guard and best bench player.
Lauri Markkanen is really close to returning and Bobby Portis and Kris Dunn are both making really good progress. @KCJHoop has Dunn and Portis making their return late next week or the week of Dec. 10.

We’ve been kept in the dark with both Portis and Dunn’s injuries since basically the day they happened. Hearing they should only miss 4-6 more games just days after we found out that Lauri Markkanen will be back any day now finally gives Bulls fans real reason to be excited.
However…
ESPN’s Malika Andrews spoke with Fred Hoiberg today and the Bulls coach was a little more guarded with his comments than he was when he discussed Markkanen the other day.
“They are still a ways away…
we are not going to get too far ahead of ourselves with those guys, being injuries to their knees.”
That quote makes is sound as if K.C. Johnson’s “later next week” prediction is based more on intuition than inside information. On the other hand, Johnson is usually pretty spot on with things like this. Even if his prediction is incorrect, I wouldn’t expect Dunn or Portis to miss much more time.
