LaMelo Ball To the Bulls?

-

At this point, no one really knows if the NBA will finish the current season. With that in mind, it’s time to look towards the draft. Right now the Bulls are 22-43 and currently boast the seventh best odds to win the lottery. Even though I’d love the Bulls to land the top pick, I’d be content with a top 5 selection. Anything but the seventh pick if we’re being honest. In his latest NBA Mock draft, Athletic writer Sam Vecenie, has the Bulls taking LaMelo Ball with the third pick in the draft.

Obviously, the Bulls would have to get lucky on draft night for this to even be an option but I’m going to take it a step further:

I’d do whatever it takes to secure LaMelo is wearing a Bulls uniform come next season. I believe he is that good and would create one helluva a duo with Coby White. According to Vecenie, LaMelo isn’t a lock to crack the top five come draft night:

“Ball’s draft range is still pretty wide. I don’t think it’s a shoo-in he goes in the top five. Having said that, it’s likely he’ll be the top prospect on my board come draft day.”

I doubt LaMelo drops that low but that could create an ideal scenario for the Bulls if they do fall out of the top five. However, the addition of Arturas Karnisovas not only marks a new era in Chicago Bulls basketball but with it brings a new level of uncertainty on draft night that Vecenie’s touches on briefly in his article. If you’re a Bulls fan, this should excite you, as this is what we’ve been calling for the last several years.
