The Jabari Parker era hasn’t gotten off to the best start. First, there were his comments from the day he was introduced as a Bull where he completely dismissed the possibility of playing defense. Then there were multiple instances of him declining interviews and media questions after Fred Hoiberg announced that Bobby Portis would be starting over him.
Most recently there was this bizarre exchange with reporters after Monday’s embarrassing loss to the Golden State Warriors:

But today he gets his wish, as he’ll be making his first start in a Bulls uniform.

Hoiberg’s reasoning for the lineup change:
“From a matchup standpoint with (Paul) Millsap at the four, that’s one of the more physical players in this league. So just to get a little bit more size out there and hopefully get off to a better start.”
While Parker’s play has often looked uninspired, he has averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds off the bench through 7 games. Hopefully this move can help spark a banged up Bulls squad.
