Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union returned stateside Tuesday night after a winding European vacation. When TMZ Sports caught up with Wade making his way out of LAX in Los Angeles, they asked him if he’s planning on teaming up with his pal LeBron James in Cleveland this season.
Check out Dwyane’s response in the video below:
Wade played it close to the vest, but did admit that he and LeBron have plans to meet up for dinner somewhere this week.
Bulls fans must be wondering what will be discussed at that dinner table. There’s been a lot of speculation recently that the former champion teammates with the Heat will unite again, this time with LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers. Wade and the Bulls front office haven’t engaged in any serious talks regarding a buyout yet. But the aging shooting guard – who’s owed $23.8 million this season – has expressed disinterest in finishing his contract in Chicago since they decided to trade Jimmy Butler and begin a rebuilding process.
For their part, Bulls executives Gar Forman and John Paxson firmly stated earlier this summer that any kind of buyout for Wade would have to benefit the organization moving forward. In other words, they would insist that Wade give some of that $23.8 million back in exchange for his freedom to play elsewhere. In a recent report, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times sourced a claim that Dwyane would want at least $20 million of this season’s salary. That report also stated the Bulls front office doesn’t want to pay him anywhere close to that amount.
Will a talk with LeBron about making one last championship run together convince Dwyane to give up more of that money the Bulls owe him? It’s certainly possible. In the meantime, Bulls fans will have to wait and see what happens. According to multiple sources, the Bulls front office is in no hurry to grant Wade a buyout.
