Derrick Rose’s name has been circulating the rumor mill since the start of the season. As of now, it seems his tenure in New York will likely come to an end before the NBA trade deadline. The cost of adding the former MVP to a team could go as low as a future second-round pick and expiring salaries. According to Bulls insider Sam Smith, Bulls could bring Derrick Rose back to Chicago.
[Derrick rose could be moved before the trade deadline to] maybe the Bulls? Starting below. 500 as the Bulls have, as we know, produces trade speculation and suggestions of which, of course, I am adverse to. Derrick [rose] may not move the needle like DeRozan, but he’d help someone, and he’s another guy you’d love to see have a legitimate chance to get to the Finals for the first time.” sAID Sam smith Via MAILBAG
Should The Bulls Consider Trading For Derrick Rose?
It’s tough to add Derrick Rose unless the Bulls complete another trade to free up minutes in the backcourt. Alex Caruso was recently linked to the Warriors. Without a doubt, Derrick Rose would inject energy into the city of Chicago just by wearing a uniform with Bulls written across his chest. United Center will become the Mad House on Madison once again. The Bulls are in desperation mode, but acquiring Derrick Rose for a cheap second-round pick could be worth the risk/reward for rejuvenating the team.
Mock Trade Between Knicks And Bulls
Bulls Trade: Coby White
Knicks Trade: Derrick Rose
The Bulls can land Derrick Rose using a second-round draft pick. However, any draft is still a valuable trade asset, but Coby White isn’t one. The Bulls reportedly attached Coby White to numerous trade offers over the summer after failing to provide him with an extension. It seems as though the Bulls are ready to let Coby White walk in free agency. If that is the case, the Bulls might as well keep their draft pick for another future trade and try to see if New York finds any value in Coby White.
The Bulls would not only immediately free up backcourt minutes for Rose, but they will flip Coby White’s inconsistencies for Derrick Rose’s leadership. New York could roll the dice on Coby White to see if he can provide any value on the court for them, similar to what they did with Cam Reddish after acquiring him from the Atlanta Hawks. This could be a lateral move from a desperate team, but at least it’s not a desperate move that could hinder their future.
