Coby White’s Season Debut Was Just Announced

-

The Chicago Bulls have had a season full of drama. Through 11 games, they started 5-0, continued to 6-1, and have now lost four straight contests. To this point, most of their losses can be attributed to injuries. Coby White has yet to play this season, Ayo Dosunmu missed a handful of games, and Josh Giddey has been sidelined for the last two outings. It didn’t help that their last four matchups have been with some of the best teams in the NBA. Fresh off three days of rest, the injury report finally features some good news for the Chicago Bulls. Coby White is officially back!

Best Offensive Weapon Is Back

Chicago’s identity this season has been its offensive diversity. They’re currently averaging between six and eight double-digit scorers per night, and have nine players averaging at least eight points. The most stable option has been Giddey, who is averaging 21.4 points per night, and the next closest is Nikola Vucevic with 16.1 points. Tonight, their best scoring option makes his debut and will begin on a minutes restriction.

Although it hasn’t been announced, he’ll likely come off the bench and will be limited for the first slate of games. It has been made public that he will not play back-to-back games, will be on a growing minutes restriction, and will ease into his regular role. Even in a limited capacity, his presence will be immediately felt by the Bulls.

Bulls At Full Strength

His status for today’s game has yet to be released, but Josh Giddey is expected to make his return to play today as well. With Giddey and White in the backcourt, Chicago will have its closest preview of the fully healthy lineup that it has had all season. With a 6-5 start and their two best players returning, the Bulls are in a better position than would’ve been imagined before the year began. They’ll be one of the youngest and most dangerous backcourts in the NBA.

Last season, they finished with a 15-5 record over their final 20 contests, which represents a preview of what this roster construction is capable of. Regaining their most versatile scoring option, lethal three-point threat, and most clutch player, the Bulls have just become an entirely enhanced product.

Can they recreate the success of last season’s finish, or will there be an adjustment period when adding their highest-volume shooter and playmaker? Regardless, Chicago gives a warm welcome back to Coby White.
