Bulls Notes: MVP Chants for Rose, Front Office Ducking Media, Another Embarrassing Loss

-

It is downright bad for the Chicago Bulls right now, but if we’re being honest, fans should have seen this coming. Friday night’s loss against the New York Knicks was yet another embarrassing performance by the Bulls, who are trying to keep their spirits up after a dreadful start to the season. But hey, at least Bulls fans got to cheer for Derrick Rose at the United Center.

Seriously, Rose checking into Friday night’s game was the highlight for Bulls fans.

Friday’s loss was Chicago’s third straight defeat and seventh in their last 10 games. That came before the start of a four-game road trip and folks, things did not get any better Sunday night in Minnesota.

The Bulls lost their fourth straight game, getting embarrassed by the Timberwolves. Not only was it another crushing loss, the Bulls allowed a season-worst 150 points. Talk about setting a tone for the road trip.

The Timberwolves have already been playing without Karl-Anthony Towns, and on Sunday they were without a few bench players and more importantly starting center Rudy Gobert. That did not favor the Bulls whatsoever and instead Anthony Edwards had one of the the best games of his career.

Minnesota improved to 15-15 with the win, while the Bulls continue to stumble and are now 11-18 on the season.

We have heard from the players, head coach Billy Donovan, but fans have not seen or heard from the team’s front office to address this disaster of a season thus far in Chicago.

Chicago Sun-Times reporter Joe Cowley called out GM Marc Eversley and Artūras Karnišovas not facing the music as the team keeps falling in the standings.

“My professional philosophy is knowing players, constant communication, roster balance, and deal-making creativity,’’ Karnisovas said in 2020 in his first meeting with the media.

“Constant’’ might have been a stretch, considering he has communicated with the media perhaps a handful of times since then, but the expectation has to be that he’ll talk soon. This season continued to spiral downward after an embarrassing showing in the loss Friday to the Knicks.

Doesn’t he owe that to the fans?

Prior to Sunday night’s game against the Timberwolves, Cowley tweeted about the Bulls’ front office refusing to speak to him.

So much for accountability, huh? Definitely reminds me of former Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace and his avoidance of the media throughout his tenure.

The front office had playoff aspirations for the Bulls this season, looking to build off their first-round exit from the postseason back in April. Instead, the Bulls are as close to being in last place in the Eastern Conference as they are to being the seventh seed through more than one-third of their schedule.

This roster had obvious flaws and whether fans thought it was the right or wrong decision to give Zach LaVine a max deal, it was the Bulls front office that made that choice. That keeps looking like a mistake, but Eversley and Karnišovas are nowhere to be found to answer questions.

And finally, I guess Lonzo Ball is making progress? Well, he’s still experiencing pain when trying to run. So, actually, yeah. Not great.

Earlier this week, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski discussed Ball’s injury situation and the update from him was not positive either, saying there were no guarantees Ball would play this season.

The Bulls will play against the Miami Heat Tuesday night, followed by a matchup against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday and then another game against the Knicks Friday to end their road trip.
