In a rather lackluster weekend for sports, highlighted by the NFL Pro Bowl (yikes), you may have been able to tune in and watch our very own Chicago Bulls. Friday night they lost a hard fought battle to the Clippers who continue to surprise the league, showing that they have the potential to lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs once again. However, it is only fitting that the Sunday before the Super Bowl, this clash of two titans battled to the very end to take over Mount Zion.
The finale for these two forces of the league, the Cavaliers and Bulls faced off in the final head-to-head battle in the hopes of taking over Mount Zion. We have read stories and tales of the great battles of our history. Troy vs Sparta ending with the infamous “Trojan Horse”, The Greeks vs. The Romans, Gryffindor vs. Slytherin, this was right up there in importance. The game was close throughout its entirety, but that does not mean it was enjoyable or had people on the edges of their seats. In fact, if you weren’t in the classic “Dad falling in and out of sleep on a Sunday” mode, then I tip my hat off to you.
As I said, this game was neck and neck from the very beginning, the largest lead being a 91-83 Cavaliers lead at the beginning of the 4th quarter. However, there was a lot of grit showed by the Bulls as they clawed there way back, and took a 101-100 lead on a Wayne Selden three-pointer with 1:07 left in the battle. It came down to needing just one more stop to seal the game and walk away with a clean season series sweep, but as it seemed so fitting, the ball didn’t bounce the right way.

Such a tough way to lose a game, great defense by RoLo in a big-time situation, but as they say “That’s the way she goes”. There are positives to take away from this game, the obvious being Lauri Markkanen putting up 21 points and 15 rebounds, and Zach Lavine having himself a 17 point 12 rebound night himself. These are guys we definitely want to see being good at their job.
Personally am I mad about this? Absolutely not, my blog post last week I really pushed for the Bulls to think about what it means to the organization by losing games like this. Losing this game brought us one step closer in the takeover of Mount Zion, we now are currently just one and a half games back of the NBA’s worst record and boy are we doing it in an entertaining fashion. The Cavaliers may have more experience in this sort of battle tactic, but what we lack in experience, we make up for in utter incompetency from management all the way down to coaching.
We have a coach that is more interested in how many push-ups they can do, rather than running a modern day offense that can score points. Hey Jim, stop watching Hoosiers every weekend fantasizing how you are the next Gene Hackman and start figuring out how to not make this organization a laughing stock. We have management in Gar/Pax that I will not even get into because I am sure you are just as sick of hearing that same conversation as I am.
The Cavaliers, the NBA's worst team, had lost 18 of 19 entering Sunday. They played without Kevin Love, David Nwaba, J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson.
And yet they still managed to beat the Bulls 104-101 at the United Center.https://t.co/d4Up2Tj1KI via @KCJHoop pic.twitter.com/FOvge368t2

We have players lashing out their frustration for different reasons. Zach Lavine showing his frustrations not too long ago on how they are losing by more points. We have Jabari Parker now openly talking about his playing time, or lack thereof. This is turning into an absolute shit show, in which the only way I see this backfiring is that we are establishing a losing culture. That is the one thing that is usually feared in a tanking campaign. However, in my unprofessional opinion, if we fire Boylan after the year, get the #1 pick and take Zion, then the refresh button happens and it is on like Donkey Kong.
We currently sit at third to last in the league’s standings, only trailing the Knicks and Cavaliers, which is right where we need to be. So on that note, cue the mafuggin music because the #TankForZion campaign just got one step closer to becoming a reality!
