BREAKING: The Bulls Have Acquired DeMar DeRozan

-

The Bulls aren’t wasting any time now that free agency has officially opened. They executed a sign and trade for Lonzo Ball minutes after free agency opened. A couple of hours later they added guard depth with the signing of Alex Caruso. Now the team has acquired DeMar DeRozan in a sign and trade with the San Antonio Spurs.

The Bulls have fulfilled what they wanted in acquiring another high-caliber player. While they had to give up a few picks they were also able to move some players with expiring contracts. In return, the Bulls are getting DeMar DeRozan. Getting DeRozan now allows the Bulls to move forward Patrick Williams back to his natural power forward position. This is another big move for the Bulls as they round out their roster for next year. The Bulls have fully committed to building a championship-level team around All-Star Zach LaVine.

DeRozan makes this Bulls team a contender

DeRozan alone isn’t the reason this Bulls team is now a threat in the East. The addition of both Lonzo Ball and DeRozan is what sets this team apart. You are now looking at a starting lineup of Ball, LaVine, DeRozan, Williams, and Vucevic. That starting lineup is filled with a great combination of strength, length, offense, and defense. That is what will make the Bulls a contender in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls will still need to add some depth but this starting cast is an extreme improvement from last season’s starting lineup. You’ve got three All-Stars on the team in DeRozan, Vucevic, & LaVine. This team is going to be night and day different from what we saw last season. The Bulls will be returning to the playoffs and that’s a guarantee before we even get into the season.

The Bulls front office is making them relevant again

When Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley came to Chicago they had one goal. To make Chicago relevant again. They wanted to make Chicago basketball fun again. The moves they made yesterday and today along with what they did at the trade deadline this past season have done just that. They are doing everything in their power to strike now. They don’t want to waste any more of LaVine’s talents and they are surrounding him with a team that can win. These guys have put their money where their mouths are and they are all in on this team.

Before they even hit the court next season the team is already back to being relevant. Yes, the trade for Nikola Vucevic was big. But the moves they made since free agency opened put Chicago back on the map. The Bulls will no longer be an afterthought. They will come up in conversation when you talk about the best teams in the East. It’s an exciting time for the Chicago Bulls. After missing the playoffs for 4 straight seasons that appears to be a thing of the past. The Bulls have completely revamped their roster and will look to compete for the championship. It’s time to get excited Bulls fans, Chicago is back!
