The NBA’s All-Star Weekend is back, and it’s better than ever. Why you may ask? Because the Chicago Bulls finally have a player that will be playing in the game. For Bulls fans, the glory days of Derrick Rose as an All-Star starter seem like another lifetime. The waiting is finally over, as Zach LaVine has secured his spot as an NBA All-Star. While he may not be starting, he will be playing as a reserve for Team Durant this weekend. In case you didn’t know, the All-Star game is no longer East vs. West like it was for most of its existence. Two team captains select their teams from a pool of players in the “All-Star draft.”
This year’s event will be a lot different from those in years past due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the main events will all still be there, which means there will be odds on who is most likely to win each event and the game itself. Zach LaVine will also be participating in this year’s three-point contest, which will consist of six shooters. Here are the current odds for each of the contestants from DraftKings Sportsbook.
The Contestants
Stephen Curry +200
Devin Booker +200
Zach LaVine +500
Donovan Mitchell +500
Jaylon Brown +700
Jayson Tatum +700
Zach Has A Legitament Shot To Win
Curry is always an enticing option to pick because, well, he’s Steph Curry. But LaVine has a real shot to win this thing, and putting some cash down on him at 5/1 odds is a smart play. These are great odds for a guy who has been red-hot as of late from the 3-point line. LaVine is actually the best 3-point shooter this season out of all the contestants, hitting at 43.5% on the season. The Bulls guard has been shooting 46.1% from 3 over his last 10 games played as well, coming into the event with a hot hand. He shoots 48.3% on catch and shoot 3’s, which is only behind Curry.
LaVine participated in last year’s 3-pt contest, which should help him immensely as he prepares for this weekend. He knows what to expect and how to execute a strategy to win. At +500, this is a great value that I recommend jumping on quickly.
Jaylon Brown Sleeper Pick
Brown has been lighting it up for the Boston Celtics this season, but you may not even have noticed since the team as a whole has been mostly disappointing. He has been solid from the 3-pt line this year, shooting 38.8%. You wouldn’t normally look at that and think those are eye-popping numbers, but Brown is an excellent spot-up shooter. This is the type of competition he should excel at.
He will be competing against his teammate on the Celtics, Jayson Tatum. Tatum gets all the attention on the Celtics, while Brown is often referred to as Robin to Tatum’s Batman. I know you may say this doesn’t matter, but sometimes it actually does. Brown may want to show his skills on the national stage like this by beating out his teammate who gets the spotlight.
Plus, you are getting 7/1 odds with Brown. He’s at least worth a little pizza money sprinkle on to win the contest. Head on over to DraftKings Sportsbook and either create a new account or sign-in by clicking the banner below. Good luck, let’s win some cash.
