Former Blackhawks Forward Tells Story Of Jonathan Toews’ Leadership

-

Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews has been widely regarded as one of the premier leaders in professional sports since stepping onto the scene in 2007. Toews’ remarkable leadership qualities have even caught the eyes of entrepreneurs and business leaders around the globe. After leading the Hawks to three Stanley Cup championships from 2010-2015, Entrepreneur, an American website that carries stories about small business management and business, published an article on Toews titled “7 Leadership Qualities of a True Champion”.

On Monday afternoon, former Blackhawks forward John Scott, who was with the team from 2010-2012, further added to Toews’ legacy with a story on his podcast, Dropping the Gloves.

Even as a 21 or 22-year-old in his first few NHL seasons, Toews was a special kind of leader. On the ice, he played a terrific two-way game and was a pivotal part of the Blackhawks’ success. Off the ice, Toews was arguably even more impressive. ‘Captain Serious’ was all business, all the time, which is the reason he landed the nickname in the first place.

Stories like Scott’s are all the more reason to be grateful to have a captain like Toews. Even though it’s been a struggle for both he and the Blackhawks the last handful of years, it’s important to remember all that Toews did for the team at such a young age. There’s no better leader to have to try and bring the Blackhawks back to relevance.
