Chicago Blackhawks Add Two Forwards In The 2nd Round

-

Good morning, Chicago Blackhawks fans, it’s early and it’s time for the 2nd round of the NHL draft to start.

GM Kyle Davidson surprised every Blackhawks fan last night with how active he was in acquiring first-round picks, and now that the 2nd-round is underway and they have pieces to trade off, we could see them acquiring, even more, picks in the upcoming rounds.

Entering the 2nd round The Blackhawks originally had the 38th, 39th, and 57th overall pick.

GM Davidson ended up trading the 38th overall pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Petr Mrazek and the 25th overall pick (drafted defensemen Sam Rinzel).

39th Overall Pick – Paul Ludwinski

With the 39th overall pick, The Chicago Blackhawks are proud to select, forward Paul Ludwinski.

Ludwinski is 18 years old and said the Hawks had the most interest in him.

Ludwinski had an incredible season in the OHL for the Kingston Frontenacs. He had 16 goals, and 27 assists (43 points) in 67 games played.

After losing Alex DeBrincat, and Kirby Dach, the Blackhawks need to add more forward prospects to go with Lukas Reichel. It’ll be a while till we see Ludwinski in the NHL, but it’s a good pick.

57th Overall Pick – Ryan Greene

With the 57th overall pick, and their 2nd pick in the 2nd round, the Blackhawks select center, Ryan Greene.

Greene had an electric offensive season for the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL. He had 19 goals, and 32 assists (51 points) in 59 games played during the 2021-2022 season.

Greene is just 18 years old and is committed to Boston University for the 2022-2023 season.

His rankings:

After the 39th and 57th overall picks, the Blackhawks still have the 66th, 81st, and 90th, they don’t have a 4th-round pick or a 5th-round pick, but they do have two 6th-round picks and a 7th-round pick.
The Blackhawks have a lot of picks left, and a lot of exciting prospects still left on the board.
