The timing of this is really weird. It feels like they designed this announcement to try and divert everyone’s focus away from their poorly executed firing of the legendary coach, Joel Quenneville, just the day before. Hmm, interesting…
What the Winter Classic Uniform May Look Like
There have been some leaked concept designs that were shared on the internet over the past couple of months. Now, I know this may not be 100% accurate, but you can get a general idea of what these 2019 Winter Classic jerseys may end up looking like. I think this concept design actually looks pretty clean and it is well thought out.
My first impression is that this uniform is simple, but also tasteful. The idea for this Winter Classic uniform comes from the Chicago Blackhawks uniform that was worn from 1927-1934. It is not identical, but it is very similar. Here is a picture of Dick Irvin from the 1927 Blackhawks team. You can see a lot of similarities between the uniform from 1927 and the concept design for the 2019 Winter Classic uniform.
I am pretty excited to see the official Blackhawks uniform for the 2019 Winter Classic tomorrow. The black uniforms have been fan favorites in the past and I see no reason why this uniform won’t be just as well received as the other black Blackhawks’ uniforms. Make sure you set your alarms for 5:30 PM tomorrow so you don’t miss the unveiling!
