Back in August, we got a sneak peek of what the Blackhawks’ sweaters might look like for this year’s Winter Classic being played at Wrigley Field on New Year’s Eve. Every year, the NHL Winter Classic is an opportunity for teams to get creative with their style, putting out new uniforms.
On Wednesday, the Blackhawks’ full uniform combo was finally revealed, complete with several tributes to Chicago with a few unique twists.

When the Blackhawks host the Blues for what is technically dubbed the 2025 Winter Classic (despite being played in 2024), they’ll be doing so in style. The unique, classic look starts from the top with the “classic lace-neck collar” and continues from there with some clean patches on the shoulders and front. One subtle twist wasn’t exactly highlighted in the leak a few months ago – with stitched pinstripes in the back, Chicago is honoring the city’s baseball heritage in a subtle way.
The full uniform adds a few unique touches down below, including some questionable brown gloves that certainly stand out. The shorts appear to include a clean-looking “Chicago” wordmark that gives them a bit of extra pizzazz. It’s the first time that the Blackhawks will be in home red in their fifth opportunity overall. They most recently went with an all-black look back in 2019, a vintage look that was an immediate hit.
The Winter Classic will be held at Wrigley Field for the first time since 2009, when the Blackhawks hosted the Red Wings. Chicago will look to get into the win column against the Blues, having gone 0-4 in the Winter Classic so far. When the city hosted the event back in 2009, it was a coming-out party of sorts for a team that went on to win three Stanley Cups in six years. Could this year’s rendition have the same effect?
