The NHL has not seen a positive test result since the second-to-last week of Phase 3 of the Return to Play Plan on July 13-17.
On Monday afternoon, the NHL released their latest COVID-19 testing results with no positive tests for the third consecutive week. The NHL administered 7,245 tests from Aug. 2 to Aug. 8 to all members of the teams’ 52-member traveling parties.
The NHL’s latest results prove to the professional sports world that the bubbles are effectively keeping COVID-19 out of their hub cities. The NBA has also not seen a positive test result since two players tested positive on July 7.
